Australian Company Reporting Season

Australian companies listed on the share market update investors with earnings results twice a year, in February and August.

CommSec has compiled a list of more than 120 companies that will be releasing earnings results during the August Reporting Season. A calendar of when companies report can be found here.

The Australian share market is one of the most concentrated share markets in the world with the 20 largest companies (listed in order below) accounting for circa 47% of Australia’s share market by market capitalisation. All companies are highly liquid and considered “bluechip” shares.

Furthermore, the ASX top 20 companies offer little diversification with only 9 GICS Sectors represented. The Financials sector holds five of the top ten largest companies and accounts for circa 50% of the top 20, hence the performance of the banks plays a major part in the performance of your portfolio. There are no Information Technology or Utility companies in the top 20.
